Staff Sergeant Natalie Madison is a vocalist in the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Sergeant Madison was born in Long Island, New York and grew up in Central Islip, New York. She began studying music at the young age of 8 and graduated from Central Islip High School in 1998 with honors in band. Sergeant Madison was also a trumpet player, drum major, and a member of the All State Vocal ensemble.
Upon graduation, Sergeant Madison went on to study at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, MA and graduated with an Associate degree in Applied Science as a member of the Dean's list from Ashford University. She also graduated with an Associate degree in music from the Community College of the Air Force in 2010. Sergeant Madison has studied voice with Marta Woodhull (Studio City, California), Jeannie Deva (Boston, Massachusetts), Charles Sorrento (Berkley School of Music), Kim Stamps (Illinois Univ), John Stewart (Washington University, and Sara Shepperd (York Town, VA).
Sergeant Madison has performed with Wilford Brimley, Steve Smith, the Four Lads, the Miracles, Bryan McKnight, Skip Martin from Cool and the Gang, Randy Brecker, and Ernie Watts. She has also performed the National Anthem at the New York Mets game after 9-11 and the Japanese National Anthem at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
Sergeant Madison enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1999 and was first stationed at Scott Air Force Base from 1999-2000. She was also assigned to Hanscom Air Force Base from 2000-2002, Yokota Air Base from 2002-2005, Joint Base Langley-Eustis from 2005-2012, and arrived at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in January 2012. Sergeant Madison's military decorations include Air Force Commendation Medal with 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service, Air Force NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, and the Air Force Training Ribbon. She was also the 2004 Airmen of the Quarter, the Public Affairs Outstanding Airmen at Yokota Air Base, and the Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter in 2009 while stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA.
In addition to her performance duties, Sergeant Madison serves as the band's NCOIC of the library, CSS Clerk, Emergency Management Representative, Unit Voting Representative, Records Management Representative, Telephone Communications Officer, and as the Self Aid Buddy Care Instructor. She is also completing a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Ashford University.
In her spare time, Sergeant Madison enjoys spending time with her husband Andre and three children, reading the Bible, recording, cooking, gardening, and listening to music. | |
